I don't know

I think I do this blogging thing the wrong way. By the time I manage to sit down and start writing my blog I feel one thing: nothing. It's an empty space.

Sleepticle

If you're wondering what the glob is sleepticle - it's the kind of article you write when you're sleeping. Literally my eyes are closed now.

Hm hm

Again a new Friday. If you've ever wondered what it feels like to experience time passing by quickly - I tell you. You realize that you're missing weekdays. Maybe the only time I wanted to skip time was at school. Meh.

Tipping point

There are nights when you think, maybe this is the night. The one that changes your life. Without you knowing it. I never forget those nights at high school dreaming about a better tomorrow. Hah, and it's better indeed. Oh brain, go home.

Speeding up

Recently I have problems with speeding up. There are quite some things to do. Projects, things to check out, learn - neverending list. How do you solve them all the fastest? Not like when you're rather reading the page numbers in the book instead of the content.

Decapitation

Classy day. So this bug I was about hunt down is around the last couple of days. Almost gave up many times, not because I wanted to, it's just the way project managers try to kill the last happy moment of your life. And then, out of a sudden there are accusations. All sorts of things you did. Like this one, that says: "maybe it's the new design". Yeah sure, a theme can break an external api service. I said it's ridiculous. You know. We all know that backend code is backend. But at the same time you're desperate and want to satisfy them. So you just change the theme to show them it's nothing to do with design. And then blackout. It fixed the issue. What? How? Oh Lord, not now. You change back and it's broken again.

Eaten back to life

I really should have slept the whole weekend. It's Monday and I'm dead. I almost passed out after the wonderful english breakfast. Some joy just simply comes with consequences.

Where's your mama gone?

I went to a cafe, and then seen all those people passing by. Let's put it this way, it was a weird day. I've seen tiny people, people with strange shaped head. They were trying to convince me to put cream on top. It was actually really kind. But nah. Not that type. Started reading a book. Couldn't take any attention. Then the JS agile dev book. No attention whatsoever. So I ended up in my fantasy world, with hipsters, cafes, romance and rock and roll. These worlds, I love. They have special things. Like grunge music. And then out of a sudden the radio plays the fat white boy's song. Jesus Christ.

Take me to Mordor

I was smart enough to take an iPad and sit on the brightest place in the cafe, where the Sun shines the most. Also it was hot. And my walk speed is just too high to prevent me sweating. All I can do is hoping that future's nanotechnology has something that makes me less like an animal.

Bogs and Dolan

One thing I never understood is references. We tell and write references all the time, and expect people recognizing them and also giving us credit for that. Silly thing. I do that all the time. Nobody gets it. Like the man on the moon.

Lost

I had a pretty Japanese day today. If folk - then it's Rhapsody - and if it's Rhapsody then it's dragons which can be found in Japan. (Not just in Italy.) Then we went to a Japanese movie to the Japanese embassy and than a sushi dinner in small Japanese restaurant. The movie was about the antarctic and cooking. Needless to say it requires some culture agnostic dinner.

Eternal darkness

Some days I feel our Sun is a heisenberg-bug. So easy to be dark. I guess this conversations describes the week:
- Do you want to go out? In the rain?
- Yes. We never go out otherwise.
If you don't feel the deepness, there is something wrong you.

Graphs and relationships everywhere

Wasn't easy but managed to find the place where the Neo4J meetup was held. Obviously when left the office I managed to travel a huge a circle in the city just to get 100m away from where I've left. That's especially promising when you are listening to a graph related presentation.

Dear diary, still no kisses

I remember my father found my teenager wishlist when I was 16. He teased my for a while after that. First rule, never leave your wishlist on the cupboard. Especially if it's about kissing ladies and whatnot.

Who knows

It was one of those days where you got so many new things your head is spinning around like steam engine.

Blueberry pancake

Today I finally upgraded my scotch pancake compilation method. Take a pancake, spread plenty of peanut butter on the top, carefully push blueberry pieces everywhere and cover with another pancake. I call it the love sandwich, because I love it.

Oh geez, not again

It's a serious disappointment when you feel happy and realize you still need to write a post. Drunk, used and mostly dead.

Monthly contribution

We had our monthly contribution night. Nice little gathering, new and old attendees. Great discussions and finally managet to contribute my dev module back to the community.

Bored to death

I've met an old friend today. His name is Click. Click the Hell out of You. When you tell the customer they have user roles, out of the box built into the system, they go crazy. They create roles for everything. One role exclusively for Roger, obviously. One for RogerWhenDrunk, with limited administrator access. And RogerAfterPromotion with extended content authoring. Because we all believe in future.

Patriots

I'm not always going to MongoDB meetups. But when I go, I meet lot's of hungarians. First a guy working in the building, then an old Drupliot friend and another guy. I was almost surprised there are others from UK.

Lies and manipulation

The deeper I get the darker it becomes. Management you evil bastard. I'm reading the last part, politics. There is no hope left for us. We're are just a drop in the desert. Puppets. I'm not even sure if I go to work tomorrow - if it's gonna be me, or just the "reality" managers make me to do.

Facebook authorization

The more I read the management book the more I realize it's witchcraft. Also it seems we're all dumb chickens waiting for managers to tell us how to live and die. We cannot deal with stress, emotion, challenge or basically any real life situation. Only revealing fact is that managers don't tell anybody the truth. Just like in Ibsen's Wild Duck, we keep our naive happy life.

Management

I'm reading a book now, called How to Manage. First I thought it's gonna be a massive brainwash, but it seems such a nice read. Obviously I'll use the knowledge to take over the world and force the amish lifestyle on people. Such a nice world.

Long night

We had a pretty long night at the pub with the colleagues. Nice ales, great stories. And the magical lavender cream. Not sure if it's normal but I always get excited by the nice smelly soap or creams.

Hackers and news

One thing I've realized my cognitive overload is so low I don't even know how I survive these days. If you're not familiar with the concept, it's the constant bugging things that usually not necessary to keep you busy. Well, especially not if you're introverted.

Meetings, with 3 'e'-s in the middle

I'm not an anarchist, I've learned that when I didn't kick trash bins as a teenager. Also I don't rebell against meetings, it's how Lord wants us to spend quality time with fellow workers. But still, half a day long meetings are strange.

Rules

I had a little affair with Rules today. I was so deep inside of it, I never thought I could go that far. And nobody hurt. Being gentle and take a lot of attention pays back.

Tax

It's amazing how chemistry works. It's the time of the annual tax admission. Funny, only one time a year, usually half an hour. And I swear I have a low temper. And the only reason is to collect all my hatred and agression to that half an hour I'm filling out the tax papers.

The social game

I was wondering about what could I do, and maybe found something. It's a social game, and funny enough, it's just like any other social game. But I hope I can add a little twist to that.

I need a new project

I guess I need a new project. It was quite a long time ago I'd been working on something big. However it has to make sense. And has to be challenging.

Solr and the stars

Funny fact on Friday that everybody notice it. You meat with strangers and the first thing they say: "it's a Friday". I think it just meant to bring people together.

Poker night

In the office we held a poker night and was fun. More than I thought. I had a pretty weak start, but then I started bluffing and risking and ended up the mighty second. And I didn't lose money. This time, at least.

Day of the developers

Today on Reddit there was this reference about how programmers are dealing with bugs. And then suddenly it started escalating and they depicted all the typical cliches. It was nice to see and I say with all my heart, it is all true.

Refactor started

Since I'm not doing any topics anymore it's funny to think about the first couple of sentences. It's a nice bla bla without any effort to drive you from the teaser to the real post.

My code has bad smell

I've had a nice bank holiday here on the island. Sun was shining like fever and tourists were spreading like a virus. It was a perfect day for an NFS rage and some articles.

Usually lazy days should be good, but today I felt too much distracted so I ended up doing a lot of little things.

I was on my battle to find a calm coffee bar in the city center - just one indicator how naiv I am. Managed to read almost all the weekly articles.

Shifting to diary

Slowly aiming to the black hole. Nowadays even figuring out the title makes me sick. I decided to do more of a diary format instead of real blog posts. At one hand the content I provide is just poor and I'm not willing to lose time by writing. Also theoretical topics are not suitable for a blog. Without a human conversation it's just showing my nipples to the public and hoping some may like it.

A small tune

I've found an amazing behavior in Firefox today. Almost spent my whole night debugging it, and hardly had any time for the music project.

The first beeps

One step closer. I had a little time to read the manual of commands and BASIC programming. It may not be the most efficient system but it has its romantic for sure.

First steps in Vice city

As a first day I had a very short time to spend with the music project. We had the Drupal beer and chat night where I had a nice time. But still managed to do a little preparation.

New challenge: Commodore 64 music

I'm quite deep recently. I have so much influence and yet hardly any interesting topic to come up. When you read great articles and learn from them it's hard to be creative. I'm not gonna repeat what I've read, and don't have any interesting to present at the moment. Well, I rather make things, instead of spending my time with writing. I think I'm about to hit my journalist deep point.

Without a doubt PHPStorm is one of the best code editor environment. If you've never done that, you might want to dive into the reference at least once. Apart from the obvious features and settings I share my favorite extras.

Quick start with MongoDB and Drupal

We have got an interesting data model today. Hundreds of different properties with special behavior. Nothing is fixed and still requires a lot of flexibility. Among many option we raised the idea of using nosql. I remembered Drupal has a MongoDB module. Chx (Karoly) and many others were working on it.
